Visitors can easily find convenient taxi services in Kaohsiung. Charges are NT$85 for the first 1.5 km and NT$5 for each additional 250 meters. Out-of-town or long-distance travel may not apply to meter charges. In addition, Uber is available. In Taiwan, most taxi drivers do not speak English, therefore, it is suggested to have hotel personnel write both your destination and your hotel's name and address in Mandarin, along with the estimated charge first, so that you can directly hand it over to the driver to avoid misunderstanding.

Buses in Kaohsiung are numerous and the routes are well-planned. Buses take EasyCard, iPass, or cash. Prices are calculated by distance. Tickets come in two price levels: One-segment ticket, regular NT$12; Two-segment ticket, regular NT$24. There is an NT$10 charge for the 30 minutes in Kaohsiung City. For rentals over 4 hours, it will charge NT$20 per 30 minutes. Visitors should follow four steps to rent a YouBike: register as a YouBike member → select a bicycle → ride → return the bicycle. You may rent a bike using an EasyCard and iPass, after completing the membership registration process at any rental station kiosk or on YouBike's website. For one-time users, select "one-time rental" on the kiosk and follow the instructions to pay. Then, enjoy your cycling trip in Kaohsiung City!

Kaohsiung Metro/Light Rail
The MRT metro and light rail system are a convenient way to get around in Kaohsiung. MRT operates from 06:00 to 24:00, and light rail operates from about 06:30 to 22:30 depending on the stations. The MRT and the light rail routes cover popular attractions, governmental agencies, and transportation hubs in the city. Trains operate at intervals of 3 to 20 minutes depending on the line and time of day. A “Single-journey Ticket” costs between NT$20 to NT$60 depending on distance. A NT$150 One-day Pass purchased from a service booth will allow unlimited travel among all MRT lines within one day. To keep the MRT trains clean, smoking, eating drinking are strictly prohibited.
